About
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is dedicated to the study and celebration of nature’s healing powers. It is a dynamic philosophy that recognizes the interconnection and interdependence of all living things. It utilizes the most natural, least invasive and least toxic therapies to treat illness and to promote wellness by viewing the body as an integrated whole.
We treat people, not diseases, working to build health so that disease states improve. By helping the body to heal we are able to harness the self-healing capability of the human body.
Naturopathic physicians are trained in four-year medical doctorate programs and are licensed and regulated by medical Boards in most states. In addition to biomedical sciences, naturopathic doctors receive training in Traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture), botanical medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine and more and utilize these modalities in our philosophy and practice to achieve the healthiest outcomes for our patients.
Naturopathic Principles
Naturopathic medicine is defined by principles rather than by methods or modalities. These include:
THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
We trust in the body's inherent wisdom to heal itself.
IDENTIFY AND TREAT THE ROOT CAUSE
We look beyond symptoms to the underlying cause of disease.
FIRST DO NO HARM
We utilize the most natural and least toxic, least invasive therapies.
DOCTOR AS TEACHER
We educate patients in the steps that enable them to achieve and maintain their health.
TREAT THE WHOLE PERSON
We view the body as an integrated whole in all its physical and spiritual dimensions.
PREVENTION
We work to prevent disease from occurring in the first place.
